There are many ways to protest: petitions, rallies, ad campaigns.
This is one of the bolder ones.
Earlier today an anonymous group known as Craze unveiled an unmanned cannabis nursery in a storefront at 200 William Street, in the heart of Kings Cross. It has a large signage proclaiming, “Who are we hurting?”
In case you haven’t twigged, today is April 20, aka 4/20 – the day American stoners celebrate their love for bud, frequently by assembling for mass smoking sessions in public places.
A spokesperson for the group told local cannabis publication Dopamine the installation is meant to “spark debate about the ‘inadequate laws turning [us] into criminals’.”
Fair play. But ironically, if the marijuana is real – and it looks it – the group’s stunt may be the thing that turns them into actual, convicted criminals, rather than just a bunch of people who like to smoke weed and grumble about its legal status.
We’ll update this story as we hear more.
