Fashion distribution company The Stables and Jerusalem street food shipping container Knafeh are about to embark on a road trip from Sydney to Melbourne. They are travelling with teams from Young Henrys, Happy As Larry pizza truck and Sol Invictus Motorcycle Co. Called Beast Feast, it will bring their food and drinks to rural parts of Australia that otherwise couldn’t access them.

The newly launched culinary road show will start in Sydney and make its way down to Melbourne via Moruya, Yass, Gundagai and Albury, stopping off in each town to serve some of the best food and drink from the big smoke.

“Guests can experience the best of the food-truck scene in this state,” says Danny Sekulich from The Stables, the brains behind the event.

The Stables is already well known in the fashion world as a multidimensional concept store and space in Surry Hills, which also houses Venus Wholefoods and District Salon. But a chance meeting between co-owners Sekulich and Todd Williams and the brothers behind Knafeh, led to Beast Feast. With Knafeh soon to launch in Brisbane and Melbourne, both businesses saw this as a great opportunity to spread the word along the east coast.

“We thought, ‘Why don’t we turn this into a road trip and visit some rural towns, and gather some people we love?’” says Sekulich.

Each event will kick off in the afternoon around 3pm and carry on late into the night. Guests can enjoy Knafeh’s famous sweet cheese and semolina pudding, authentic Napoli-style pizzas from Happy As Larry, and motorcycle test rides courtesy of Sol Invictus.

“There will be lots of music, dancing, beer and pizza. It’ll be lots of fun,” says Jenny Shaw from Young Henrys, which will be selling new tinnie-sized versions of its real ale, natural lager and cloudy apple cider.

The tour kicks off with a launch party at Young Henrys’ Newtown headquarters on August 17, and finishes with a closing party in Melbourne on August 22, both of which are open to the public.
