Kolkata Social is one of the best restaurants 2025 has given us so far. On the south end of King Street, ex-Firedoor chef Ahana Dutt is busy plating up the Bengali dishes of her childhood. But for one night only – especially for Broadsheet’s debut Dine Out festival – the little restaurant’s becoming a bakery-slash-wine-bar.
Dutt will welcome Aniruddha Bhosekar – her longtime friend and Fabbrica Bread Shop ’s head baker – to the kitchen, for a tag-team effort on a carb-heavy menu. Expect the savoury courses to deliver buttery chicken puffs and spicy kheema pau, a snacky street food found in Mumbai where curry-spiced meat fills soft white bread rolls. There’ll be a cardamom-scented mawa cake for dessert, and plenty of local wines too.
Bread and wine make for a tasty trip through India. Book in for one of two sittings, at 6pm and 8.15pm.
