Dine Out: Hey Rosey x Odd Culture

Sun 17th August, 2025
Cafe, Restaurant and Bar 266 King Street Newtown 2042
Orange’s tiny wine bar is heading to Newtown – bringing standout wine and a one-off menu of small plates to a King Street favourite.

Hey Rosey is the little venue that could. The wine bar on Orange’s main street makes a spectacular case for regional dining: 20 or so people piled into a skinny space – about three metres wide – that feels like your friend’s living room, with good wine and standout food. Now, head chef Hugh Piper’s zipping to Sydney, especially for Broadsheet’s debut Dine Out festival.

Piper was once head chef at Potts Point darling Dear Sainte Eloise – and this is his first time back cooking in the city. He’ll be joining Odd Culture exec chef Alex Haupt, the pair dishing out a one-off à la carte menu of punchy small plates both venues are known for.

The exact dishes are yet to be locked in, but you can be sure western NSW’s produce will be at the front. Maybe Hugh’s ricotta with foraged mushrooms and confit garlic, or silky oeuf mayonnaise. Fresh pasta is likely, as is a tight list of wines from Orange.

Walk-ins only, from 2pm.
