We’ve been getting excited about summer for a while now. You may have noticed. A little while back, we told you about The Royal Croquet Club – a brand new festival coming to Melbourne this month.

The Royal Croquet Club will be located at Birrarung Marr, where for 17 days, the banks of the Yarra below Fed Square will be transformed, with a giant croquet lawn, live music, entertainment, a bar, the Australian Open on a big screen and food by way of Broadsheet.

For Melbourne’s newest festival, Broadsheet is collaborating with some of the city’s best chefs and restaurateurs on a new kind of summer barbeque.

Authentic Italian and modern Asian chefs will work with Broadsheet alongside seafood, American barbeque and burger specialists to create a unique experience that will only be available at the Royal Croquet Club.

The Broadsheet Summer Barbeque features chefs from Meatmother, MissChu, Huxtaburger’s new venture Mr Claws and DOC, working together to create an innovative range of dishes, with St ALi and Gelato Messina sweetening the deal.

Australia in summer means barbeque, but in Melbourne it also means the many incredible cuisines that have been embraced and adopted by the city. With Broadsheet, teams from across these cuisines are creating their own spins on classic Australian barbeque and beyond, bringing their unique influences to quintessential summer dishes, and creating some brand new ones. In coming days we'll be unveiling what each team will be bringing to our Summer Barbeque, starting with MissChu.

The Royal Croquet Club will also be streaming the tennis, so whether you’ve got tickets and feel like making a pitstop or you’d prefer to hang out at the big screen all day, you’ll be well catered for. Our barbeque might even substitute your own on Australia Day – you’ll definitely be able to invite more friends.

The Broadsheet Summer Barbeque at the Royal Croquet Club will run from 16 January to 1 February, 2015 at Birrarung Marr.
