Free Billy Van Creamy Ice-Cream
Ice-cream-maker Billy Van Creamy is teaming up with Food & Drink Victoria, the organisation behind the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, to give away free scoops this week.
The two will host a series of pop-ups across Melbourne from Thursday October 3 to Sunday October 6 as part of Vic Grown, a new initiative funded by Agriculture Victoria that aims to highlight local produce.
Billy Van Creamy has created five flavours that put Victorian produce front and centre – using a base made with products from Schulz Organic Dairy, St David Dairy and Burd Eggs – and include strawberry swirl, made using berries from Beechworth, and olive oil and salt, which incorporates Rich Glen olive oil and Lake Tyrrell salt.
The flavours – which also include Meredith goat’s cheese and fig; walnut and caramelised honey; and brown-butter apple with cinnamon myrtle – will be available for free during pop-ups at venues including Wesley Place and Abbotsford Convent. They can also be purchased from Monday October 7 until the end of the month at Billy Van Creamy in Brunswick and Fitzroy North.
