Dine Out: A Week of Australian Counter Meal Classics at Hazel

Hazel is a pared-back eatery that stretches over two floors of the historic Richard Allen & Son building on Flinders Lane. It’s the first restaurant from the Mulberry Group, also behind Liminal , The Kettle Black and Higher Ground. All venues contribute 10 per cent of profits to Common Ground Project, the group’s regenerative farm and social enterprise.

For Dine Out, Hazel is bringing their modern approach to nostalgic classics, with a week-long tribute to traditional Aussie pub dining. Familiar counter meals – from minute steaks to crumbed cutlets and saucy shanks – have been reimagined through Hazel’s signature lens of fire, seasonality, and top-tier local produce. Grab a seat at the bar and enjoy a single-plate special with a glass of wine for $30.

Bringing the atmosphere of a country pub to the heart of Flinders Lane, Hazel offers comfort food cooked over a blazing fire. Bookings are recommended, but you’re welcome to pop in and pull up a stool. Available for both lunch and dinner.
