Australia has again proven its bars stand up to the best in the world – three have placed on the World’s 50 Best Bars List, including one from Melbourne.

Brunswick Street favourite Black Pearl is on the list at number 22, slipping from last year’s spot at number 10.

Unfortunately nearby Fitzroy cocktail bar The Everleigh didn’t make the list this time, despite sitting at number 25 last year.

Two Sydney bars returned to the list in 2016, although both have placed slightly lower this time. Baxter Inn went from number six to number 12, and won best bar in Australasia. Last year Bulletin Place ranked 28th, this year it was 46th.

In the top 100, Melbourne's Eau de Vie came in at 90 and Sydney's Lobo Plantation at 95.

Attaboy in New York City, run by Australian Sam Ross, came in at number five.
