The view out across the aqua blue of Freshwater beach is a winner no matter the time of year. That’s what the Pilu Kiosk is all about.

Downstairs from the celebrated restaurant, on the grass that rolls down to the beach, the kiosk is a little shack-style outpost. Here you’ll find a clutch of outdoor seats under an awning and tucked behind a windbreak hedge. It’s the kind of place you can wander into still damp from a swim.

Start the day with simple avocado and sea salt on sourdough, oven-roasted muesli with fresh fruit or toasted fruit bread with ricotta and honey. The lunchtime menu offers salads including Israeli couscous. The kiosk is well known for its panini, such as breakfast rolls (free-range eggs, crisp pancetta, salsa and aioli) and toasted lunchtime sourdoughs bursting with wagyu bresaola and rocket.

There is also one with chicken, pumpkin and thyme mayonnaise. The suckling pig with apple, mustard and mayonnaise is a local favourite, coming direct from the Pilu kitchen.
