The Other Art Fair is back in 2025, taking place in Sydney’s White Bay Cruise Terminal from May 8 to May 11. As ever, the usual art world rules don’t apply. It’s run by Saatchi Art, an online retailer whose mission is to provide access to affordable art, which means you can nab pieces from just $100, with many under $2000.

Right now, Broadsheet Access members can score free VIP passes to opening night and free tickets to the whole weekend. You’ll meet over 130 independent artists and get first dibs on the art works. Become a Broadsheet Access member today, to redeem yours.

Fair selection committee member Libby Knott plays a key role in curating the fair’s diverse mix of artists, and she talks us through six names to keep an eye on.

Diane Henry

“The Sydney-based thread artist is reimagining vintage photos with colourful, three-dimensional embroidery.”

Charles Herbert

“Herbert is an abstract painter whose layered, ocean-inspired works are rich in texture and emotional depth.”

Sasha Krautman

“A figurative artist drawing on moments of synchronicity and introspection, when weird circumstances converge and cause unplanned events to unfold.”

Yang Qiu

“Qiu is a ceramicist and painter known for her iridescent fruit-inspired sculptures, like Dancing Pumpkin Man, filled with whimsy and narrative.”

Daphné Varlik

“The sculptural ceramicist is redefining vessels as minimalist objects of form and silhouette.”

Karen Brock

“An atmospheric painter working with restricted palettes and nocturnal scenes, capturing fleeting moments of suburban stillness.”
