The Valley Cellar Door
Menu - Mr Yum
After years spent working as a sommelier in Europe (including a stint at Marco Pierre White’s Michelin-starred Quo Vadis), co-owner Mark Pendreich was tired of working with grandiose, 60-page wine lists and unfriendly price mark-ups. So, along with his brother Tony, he decided to create something different.
At The Valley Cellar Door customers are encouraged to tailor their bar experience to suit their needs: you can order by the glass or select one of the 230 bottles of wine from the wood-clad walls to drink in-house or take away.
The whole space resonates a friendly warmth, from the deep red walls, to the menus scribbled on blackboards. Hopscotch-patterned shelves fashioned from dark wood display bottles of red, while glowing fridges show off the whites. This easily accessible, bottle shop-feel encourages customers to ask questions, interact with the knowledgeable staff and peruse the shelves at leisure.
150 bottles of craft beer are available, as well as six on tap that are rotated weekly, covering everything from dark Belgian ales to crisp easy-drinkers. Cider sippers aren’t forgotten either, with anywhere up to 60 available each week.
There’s a selection of cheese, antipasto and charcuterie boards on offer, as well as a tight list of pizzas, which should see you through the night. If these don’t tempt, The Valley Cellar Door has a BYO food policy – you can order takeaway from restaurants nearby or simply bring your own food.
