The French Saloon has introduced late-night supper sessions.
Ian Curley, executive chef of The European Group, says the plan was always to operate later at French Saloon, but wanted the restaurant to find its feet for the first year or so before extending opening hours. A supper menu is now being served Monday to Friday, from around 10pm until 1.30am.
“If you want to have something to eat after 11pm, where do you go? We’re meant to be an international city, but there aren’t many places you can get a good glass of wine and good food, late,” says Curley.

SIGN UP“In Europe – in France, and particularly in Spain – people go out to eat later. The times we serve dinner in restaurants here are the times families with children go out for dinner in Europe.”
The supper offering features select items from the existing French Saloon menu including oysters, a house charcuterie board and steak frites. A special “Saloon Burger”, using mince from The European Group’s in-house butcher, is only available during supper.
With the venue’s location in the legal and banking district, Curley expects to attract staff working late in nearby offices, as well as hospitality workers knocking off from night shifts.
