Save the Date: Dine Out, Our Blockbuster New Food Festival, Debuts in August

Broadsheet is all about bringing you the best of Melbourne (and beyond). We do it online and in print, but we’ve always loved sharing the city’s finest with you in person too.
Over the past 15 years, we’ve run countless parties, markets, bars and other pop-ups, from the Broadsheet Cafe and the Broadsheet Restaurant to our ongoing Editor’s Preview dinners at new restaurants.
But we’ve never done anything as huge as Dine Out. Premiering this August in partnership with Mastercard and Square, it’s a week-long, city-wide celebration of Melbourne’s best chefs, restaurants, bars, bakeries and more. We want to warm up your winter and get you out supporting home-grown hospo talents while they flex their creativity and passion.
After a decade working at Broadsheet, I can’t remember this much excitement in the office, ever. Everyone’s talking about Dine Out. “It’s like being at a festival and your three favourite acts are on at the same time on different stages,” our editorial director Katya Wachtel wrote.
Across 40 unmissable events, there’ll be venue swaps, unexpected collaborations, one-off menus and other food experiences. Your favourite restaurants are on board. Some of Sydney’s biggest names are flying down, and we’ll be sending some of ours up in return. The headline events will be ticketed, but you’ll be able to walk into many others (non-planners, we see you).
Not to tease, but we can’t share any specifics just yet. Sign up to Broadsheet Today, our flagship daily newsletter, to ensure you get details as soon as they’re announced (and a chance to nab the tickets you want before they sell out).
Broadsheet’s Dine Out festival debuts from August 4–10, 2025 in Melbourne and August 11–17, 2025 in Sydney, with 80 events across the two cities.
