For five years, husband-and-wife team Bien and Deborah Peralta operated Dello Mano out of an old converted warehouse in Newstead. Now they’re on the move.

February 15 marked the last day of trading at Dello Mano's much loved Doggett Street location, the luxury brownie maker re-locating to a Merthyr Village shop early next month. “Our kids grew up in that store,” Bien says. “Five years is a big chunk out of your life and it was sad, but it was time to move on.”

Dello Mano’s chocolate delights have an international reputation. Most famously, Ashton Kutcher once had a batch of them flown to Paris for his birthday. While the name is synonymous with brownies, the business also bakes cakes and tarts, and caters high-tea events.

The move to Merthyr Road is partly a homecoming; Dello Mano started as a stand at the New Farm Farmers Market in 2006 before the Newstead store opened. This was followed by a second outlet in the CBD last year. “To us [New Farm is] a part of our heartland,” Bien says. “We still maintain a lot of clients from that area since we first started.”

The New Farm store will open up right in time for Easter – Dello Mano has already launched its Easter gift collection.

Dello Mano New Farm will open inside Merthyr Village Shopping Centre in early April.
