Sydney Short Film Festival 2024
Now in its sixth year, the Sydney Short Film Festival is taking over Randwick's heritage-listed Ritz Cinemas. Film buffs can enjoy two screening slots, each featuring six short films – exploring personal stories and relationships – from filmmakers across 11 countries.
Highlights include Canadian filmaker Eva Thomas' Redlights (which premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival), exploring the systemic discrimination Indigenous communities face within the justice system. There's also Taiwanese director I-hui Lee’s It’s Perfectly Okay to Lie, following the story of two sisters’ reckoning with their father’s mental illness.
Aussie submissions include Sam Carson's The Last Cinema and Simone Atallah's Return Chute: The Survival of a Small Town Video Store.
Entry is free.
Slot 1: 6pm to 7:30pm.
Slot 2: 7:40pm to 9:05pm.
