Almond Bar Takeover at Folonomo

Wed 23rd October, 2019
Folonomo
370 Bourke Street, Surry Hills NSW 2010
Price: $95
All proceeds from this Syrian food pop-up will help asylum seekers find work in Sydney.

For its next pop-up, Folonomo is hosting Middle Eastern eatery Almond Bar, which takes over the space with a Syrian shared feast inspired by the city of Aleppo.

Across seven courses, Almond Bar chef Sharon Salloum will pay homage to her roots with dishes such as ocean trout basturma (cured trout with goat milk labneh, almond and shiso) and salatet baqli (herb and lemon salad with purslane). Diners are encouraged to get involved in making halowet il jibin, a sweetened cheese with clotted cream and pistachio for dessert.

Keeping with Folonomo’s "profit-for-purpose" ethos, all proceeds from the night will benefit newly arrived refugees, asylum seekers and migrants settling in Sydney.

Tickets include a cocktail on arrival. Drinks have been donated by Newtown purveyors Young Henrys and P&V Wine Merchants.

From 6.30 to 10.30pm.
