Winghaüs is a sports bar by Pacific Concepts (Fratelli Fresh, El Camino Cantina) with 40 beers on tap, stacks of large-screen televisions and plenty of German and American influences. The space is lit is by bright neon lights and classic sports memorabilia is scattered throughout. Perch yourself on a leather stool at the bar, at high-top table, or slide into a red leather booth.
As the name suggests, wings are a highlight. But it’s the Buffalo wings (chicken wings in a cayenne pepper-based hot sauce) that have built the biggest following. Serving size ranges from 10 to 100 pieces, with the option to choose from classic Buffalo flavour; fried wings dusted in either chipotle or habanero powder; or boneless chicken tenders. These are then smothered in your choice of sauce – from the mild teriyaki and Texas BBQ, to the more extreme Afterburner and Face Melting – and come with a dipping sauce of your choice: blue cheese, ranch dressing, honey and mustard, garlic or haüs sauce. Chocolate Magnums are also available to quell any raging heat.
You can also order burgers – Cheese Deluxe, Bacon Project, Chicken and Mushroom – alongside a range of typical American sports bar snacks, such as onion rings, deep-fried pickles and potato gems.
More than 500 glasses hang above the bar ready for someone to order a drink from the custom-built beer tap wall. You can get German beers Löwenbräu, Paulaner, Franziskaner, Spaten and Hofbräu, as well as American bellwethers Budweiser, Stella Artois and Goose Island. There’s also Hoegaarden (Belgium) and, from Australia, 4 Pines and Pirate Life. Frozen Margarita, Old Fashioned, Aperol spritz, Negroni and Espresso Martini are also available on tap.
Alongside the 20 mounted TVs is a mega 12-foot wide screen that airs everything from tennis to golf and American football.
