Third time's a charm, we hope. And good news: Gorillaz, the Strokes and Tyler, The Creator will all be here.

For the third time, beloved Byron Bay music festival Splendour in the Grass has been postponed. Organisers first moved the 2020 winter festival to October of last year, then to July of this year, and have now bumped it again. The event’s now set to take place from Friday November 19 to Sunday 21, 2021.

“We had so hoped to bring you Splendour’s 20th anniversary edition this July but we can’t stage the event that you know and love within the current restrictions and international border closures," Splendour in the Grass co-founders Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco said in a statement.

Headliners the Strokes, Tyler, The Creator and Gorillaz have all been confirmed for the new 2021 dates, and organisers say they are aiming to re-book as many of the planned performers as possible.

“Since March 2020, not a single festival in Australia has been able to run at full capacity and the industry is currently operating at a fraction of pre-Covid levels. Australia’s live music industry is made up of many sole traders and small businesses alongside the larger tour and event promoters. In support of them all, we implore the government to provide some form of continued wage subsidy until the industry can once again operate at full capacity,” they said.

The 20th Anniversary Splendour in the Grass Festival is now slated to run the weekend of Friday November 19 to Sunday 21, 2021. Ticketholders who are not able to attend the new dates will be able to apply for a refund. Tickets are available here.
