He might have sold his i Carusi pizzeria institution in Brunswick East just last week, but Pietro Barbagallo has other fish to fry. His new venture, Barbagallo Trattoria e Pizzeria, has opened its doors on Lonsdale Street.
The new restaurant will be serving up classic Italian food (yes there will be pizza), and according to the man himself; “It’s food that we know and love”.

It was a nine-month process to get the trattoria to its final stages, but with it’s liquor licence at the ready, seating for 80 people and location in the heart of the CBD, the team is set for action.

Barbagallo says that whilst it was time to move on from i Carusi, the handover was not without sadness.
Still, operating Monday to Saturday from 10am till around midnight, we’re looking forward to some heart-warming Italian fare.
