Funlab is the company behind a string of wild and wacky funhouse venues known for their sensory overload – including Holey Moley, Strike Bowling, Hijinx Hotel and Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq – and it’s bringing three of these concepts to Adelaide for the first time in a new entertainment and dining precinct.
The multimillion-dollar project – Entertainment Place – will open later this year on Level 1 of Rundle Place. It’ll be the first day-to-night venue (that’s open seven days a week) for Rundle Mall, spanning 2200 square metres with a capacity of 450 people and featuring Funlab brands Strike Bowling, a tenpin bowling alley with high-energy music and party vibes; Hijinx Hotel, an immersive, faux hotel that’s actually a funhouse filled with challenge rooms; and Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq, a kaleidoscopic circus of fun cocktails and arcade and ticket games.
“This project will extend Rundle Place’s appeal from fashion and services into the evening, with an entertaining and dining precinct that will be the first of its kind in South Australia,” Sam Sproats, executive director at Fortius Funds Management (which owns Rundle Place in a joint venture with Irongate Group) said in a press release.
“It is a significant project that continues our repositioning of the centre and kickstarts Rundle Mall’s night-time economy.”
Alongside the entertainment offerings will be a 1500-square-metre dining precinct with up to seven restaurants and bars from as yet unannounced local and interstate operators.
There are other new tenants moving into Rundle Place, too, including local coffee roaster Dawn Patrol opening soon on the ground floor.
Entertainment Place will open on Level 1 of Rundle Place on November 30. Head here to pre-book
