Salvador Dali Exhibition

Fri 2nd November, 2018 – Thu 31st January, 2019
Billich Gallery
106 George Street, The Rocks, Sydney
Price: $10
A major exhibition of the great 20th-century artist.

Next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the passing of Salvador Dalí – the prominent Spanish surrealist artist who sits among the greats such as Picasso, Matisse and Pollock.

Most will recognise his melted clocks (from painting The Persistence of Memory and sculpture Nobility of Time, among others), but his body of work included paintings, films, fashion, jewellery, architecture and sculpture. Surrealism emerged in his career in the 1920s and he was heavily influenced by the studies of Sigmund Freud.

Coming to Sydney from The Dalí Universe in Switzerland – which is the owner of the largest collection of Dalí sculptures in the world – will be Nobility of Time and Dance of Time II, along with a collection of graphics, three museum-size bronze sculptures and another huge piece that will be on display on George Street opposite First Fleet Park in The Rocks.

Also on display will be paintings by Australian surrealist Charles Billich. You can find his work in the Vatican, the United Nations and the White House, and he has been the official artist of many Olympics and was twice-named US sports academy artist of the year. He was the recipient the Florence Biennale in 2009, one of the world's most prestigious art awards.

From 9am to 7pm daily.
