The celebrated wildlife photographer hosts a special workshop as part of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.

The annual Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition showcases the best in animal, plant and natural world photography from around the globe. Held at the Australian National Maritime Museum and now in its 58th edition, this year the Museum presents a four-part masterclass series in partnership with whisky-maker The Glen Grant, featuring some of the best photographers with works on display.

On Wednesday June 28, The Glen Grant Photography Masterclass Series kicks off with nature and wildlife photographer Jürgen Freund. His session, Capturing Two Worlds, will see the photographer reveal his method of capturing stunning split-level underwater photography and above-water environments. With Freund’s guidance, participants will learn how to set up the camera for this style of photography, as well as how to use different techniques to capture both worlds in a single shot.

With over 30 years’ experience in both Australia and his country of origin Germany, Freund’s award winning photographs have been published all over the world. A former winner of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year award, Freund has also won awards for Nature’s Best Photography, World Press Photo and more. He’s a senior fellow of the International League of Conservation Photographers, and for two decades has worked closely with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), who frequently use his photographs in its campaigns.

The Glen Grant Masterclass Series is a four-part content series that sees a collection of photographers involved in the exhibition discussing how they achieve their images. Complimentary whisky-tastings of a range of The Glen Grant expressions will be served on the night, along with a bespoke whisky cocktail and light refreshments.

Tickets are $45 each, with a 10% discount for members of the Australian National Maritime Museum. See more information and book tickets.
