Steve McCurry: Icons at Seaworks Williamstown
Steve McCurry’s Icons landed in Sydney last year with an extended season. And now the exhibition has arrived in Melbourne.
With more than 100 large-format photographs on display, this exhibition is one of the most complete retrospectives of McCurry’s career to date.
His work encompasses conflicts, endangered cultures, ancient traditions and contemporary culture, and McCurry always maintains the human element. This exhibition displays some of the photographer’s most iconic images, including the legendary Afghan Girl, a 1984 portrait of 12-year-old refugee Sharbat Gula.
Downloadable audio guides and videos will provide insight into the stories behind the photographs. Hear from McCurry in his own words, as he shares details and descriptions of 43 pictures, as well as anecdotes from his travels and professional exploits.
