Brae Guest Suites
If you’re travelling to the Great Otway National Park to visit Brae, you don’t have to worry about driving home afterwards – the restaurant offers accommodation right next door. It’s especially handy if you opt for the tasting menu with matched wines.
Owner Dan Hunter didn’t want the accommodation to feel like a hotel, just a restaurant with rooms. There are six of them, all self-contained and large – around 60 square metres. But while the hotel vibe is played down, these are some seriously luxe suites.
Each contains a king-sized bed with organic cotton sheets; a turntable and record collection; underfloor heating; and an outdoor deck. Forget about fun-size bottles in the minibar, too – the fridges are stocked with adult servings.
The Six Degrees architecture complements the existing landscape – not overly rustic, but not too modern for its surroundings. Take a morning stroll outside and you might see a chef picking ingredients from the surrounding garden.
