Illuminate Adelaide: Light Cycles at the Adelaide Botanic Garden
Although Illuminate Adelaide, the city’s major new midwinter arts festival, has seen multiple Covid-related cancellations recently, one of the most anticipated events on its program has just restarted – and with an extended run.
Light Cycles is a site-specific work that’s been installed in the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, merging technology, art, lights and music. It’s by acclaimed Canadian multimedia entertainment studio Moment Factory, which has designed stage shows for the likes of Jay-Z, Muse, Madonna, Billie Eilish and Ed Sheeran.
A two-kilometre trail in the garden has been taken over by lights, lasers, projections and sound. It launched a few days before Adelaide went into a week-long lockdown. Now it’s reopened with reduced capacity and mandatory masks, but you still get to enjoy the full experience.
And its been given an extra week’s runtime, so more people can walk through the light trail before it’s gone for good.
Sessions are from 6.15pm Tuesday to Sunday. Allow 60 minutes to finish the full trail; it goes one way.
