Robert Gordon Workshops
Robert Gordon opened his first studio, Pack Track Pottery, in a tin shed in the Dandenong Ranges in 1978. In the decades since, his family business's pottery, ceramics and dinnerware have graced the tables of countless restaurants in Australia, as well as the crockery cabinets of thousands of families.
Now you can learn from the best and try your hand at pottery yourself. The company is hosting a number of workshops and classes at its studio and headquarters, with one-off sessions and a full six-week course to really get your hands dirty.
Learn to throw clay on the wheel and make basic shapes; mould pieces by hand, using three different techniques; and paint your pottery masterpieces. In the longer course, participants also learn to wedge clay and glaze their pieces.
Single classes cost $100, while the six-week course costs $450 total. All workshop fees include the clay, firing costs, tools and materials.
