At Archie’s All Day, they take their name seriously: you can eat until midnight on a Sunday.

Owner Anthony Brem (Bluebird Espresso) and chef Nick Sawle aren’t at all worried about opening a new cafe and restaurant on Gertrude Street, where – make no mistake – the competition is stiff (Anada, Belle’s Diner, Arcadia, Moon Under Water, Birdman Eating, De Clieu, Ladro and the soon-to-open Beach Burrito Co. being just a few of the options within a stone's throw of Archies).

The bluestone building (previously home to Southpaw) has been fitted out anew and is named after Brem’s newborn son, Archer. There’s a turntable and a courtyard out back which suggests – like the name – that this is a place you could hang out in for a while.

Sawle’s menu is wildly diverse, covering za’atar eggs, huevos sucio and more complex dishes such as the white miso cured salmon with pickled cucumber & daikon, seaweed butter and croutons. There are good options for vegetarians and vegans for all times of the day, and a decent amount of gluten-free items. As you'd imagine, burgers are on all day and there are small dishes, snacks, cheeses and cakes to keep you going until midnight, though the kitchen closes at 10pm.

Archie’s serves 18 craft beers and their own Archie’s Ale on tap, with a wide selection of local wines and a few considered bottles from overseas. While it's early days now, we're assured cocktails are coming soon.
