Friendship Speed Dating
Making friends as a grown-up is tricky. A shared love of the Strokes or penchant for wagging PE was once enough to forge a life-long bond, but after a certain age it can feel harder to eke out common ground.
Creative collective Ladies of Leisure (aka LOL) has a solution: friendship speed dating.
In their dreamy new Fitzroy digs, dubbed LOL Space, Savannah Anand-Sobti and Sally Tabart are hosting meet-ups to help likeminded people connect.
Anand-Sobti and Sally Tabart (the duo behind the wildly popular Ladies of Leisure zine and its offshoots) are self-described “creative soulmates” and start each speed-dating sesh by sharing their story.
Attendees then do the same, introducing themselves, their passions and their reasons for seeking out new pals. There’s a break for chitchat and cheeky drinks, before a quick-fire, round robin-style meet and greet, where people can see if their interests align.
The inclusive sessions welcome all industries, all genders and all reasons for coming along, whether that’s starting a new creative project, getting a good podcast recommendation, or simply getting a beer sometime.
From 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
