Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has broken records in the UK, winning 22 major theatre awards there since it opened in July 2016. And you no longer have to travel to see it: the hit show is coming to Melbourne in early 2019.
The play, produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, Colin Callender and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions, will show at the Princess Theatre after making its American debut on Broadway next year.
The play brings to life the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and is the first to be performed on stage. It was written by BAFTA and Olivier award winner Jack Thorne and directed by Olivier and Tony award winner John Tiffany.
“You can’t ever assume a new play is going to have a further life, but we knew that if Harry Potter and the Cursed Child did have a life beyond London and Broadway, that the next stop would be here,” said the play’s producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender in a statement.
Performance dates and ticket details will be announced soon.
