Cellar Door Wine Store was opened by Aaron Taylor and Martina Brazdovicova in 2011. They’ve since left Beechworth for new adventures in Sydney, passing the baton to Cecily and Peter Bisset and their son Lachlan, who had been visiting the area for a decade prior.

The boutique store carries a sizeable collection of local wines and a smaller selection from further afield – mainly Australia, New Zealand and Europe. The shop also acts a bar, so you can drink in by the glass or carafe, or choose a bottle from the shelf.

Like the wine selection, there are local and imported cheeses (French brillat-savarin, Spanish manchego, Milawa goat’s milk camembert); and charcuterie; along with Allpress coffee and sweet treats made by Cecily.

The space is long and narrow, with bar seating up the back (perfect for in-depth wine discussions with Lachlan) or larger tables at the front and outside for a relaxed afternoon beverage overlooking the street. Pop in for a pre-dinner drink, or simply to buy a few bottles for the cellar at home.
