Kenji Takimi
Kenji Takimi, one of Japan’s most respected and sought-after DJs is voyaging to Australia for the very first time this September for Bamboo Musik.
Takimi is not only the pioneer of the left-field/alternative-disco genre and a talented producer in his own right, but he also runs the Tokyo cult label, Crue-L Records. The label has nurtured alternative Japanese musicians since their formation in 1991, laying down the foundations for the alternative music genre.
Takimi has added his edgy new-romance meets space-beats style to a number of projects, including Crue-L Grand Orchestra, Luger E-Go and Being Borings. His diverse, feel-good productions have inspired remixes from DJ Harvey, Theo Parrish, Dr Dunks and Idjut Boys. Even Australian electronic favourites Cut Copy have commissioned Takimi for reworks.
With a career that has spanned over 23 years, Kenji Takimi’s masterful spinning is set to have audiences flying blissfully above the treetops.
