Melbourne is no stranger to pop-up stores, and the latest to grace the city is a temporary ventyure by three designers with a shared appreciation for ‘slow fashion’. Wendy Voon, MüCKE and Phong Chi Lai have launched their spring/summer 2011 collections exclusively at a collaborative pop-up store in Brunswick East this month.

Wendy Voon has been honing her craft for the past five years, focusing on an architectural approach to knitwear. Meanwhile, Ellie MüCKE has made a name for herself by creating an environmentally and socially conscious women’s wear label with a unique, masculine twist. MüCKE nips and tucks men’s pants and shirts into skirts and dresses, and woollen jumpers into scarves. Phong Chi Lai, maker of handcrafted shoes, stylishly reduces the wearer’s carbon footprint by marrying traditional aspects of shoe making with a contemporary androgynous aesthetic to create strong designs.

The designers’ focus on slow fashion means even their spring/summer collections transcend seasonal trends and can be worn all year around. Limited edition pieces from the designers’ previous collections are also available on sale.
