This season Manning Cartell are using an idiosyncratic style to explore clashing cultures as reference for the spring/summer collection.

With a monochrome colour palette evident in lightweight grey jersey tanks, softly tailored white trousers and cropped jackets and skirts finished with black lace details – it feels like a spider has spun a silky web all over this collection.

There is something quite elegantly casual about the new Manning Cartell range that we really like. They’re using deconstructed cotton lace layered on fine tulle, creating a collection of sheer dresses that have an unfinished element and asymmetric hemlines, as though someone took it straight of the sewing machine and forgot to trim the thread.

With a heavy focus on texture, Manning Cartell use perforated leather, striped jacquards and heavy circular beading on structured tailoring to create a collection with volume.

Illustrations by Aubrey Beardsley also feature, printed on to fabrics with drapes, tucks and folds, exploring altered dimensions on garments that cross from elegant daytime wear into casual evening attire.
