Melbourne director Adena Jacobs has described her work as ‘both gentle and frightening’, a fitting description of her latest project: converting Ingmar Bergman’s eerie 1966 classic Persona from the silver screen to stage.

A story of identity, intimacy and the limits of the spoken word, Persona delves into the mind of an actress that refuses to speak, and the relationship she shares with her nurse. At the hands of Jacobs and the creative team and Red Stitch Theatre Company, Persona is bound to resonate with audiences as Bergman’s masterpiece did.
