Festival of Dangerous Ideas

Sat 2nd November, 2013 – Mon 4th November, 2013
Sydney Opera House
Bennelong Point, Sydney
Price: $25-35

The Festival of Dangerous Ideas is in its fifth year of bringing controversial and confronting speakers to raise important questions that create dialogue and debate within a public sphere.

This year, themes of crime and punishment are core in discussing drugs, prison and flogging within ideals of social equality. David Simon discusses the reality of American life, including ideas about men, women, sex, and the magic of technology.

Amongst other speakers, Kirby Ferguson confronts conspiracy theories; sociologist Archi Hochschild questions control; John Safran speaks on the crime that inspired his new book, Murder in Mississippi; and Dan Savage dishes out advice for modern ‘monogomish’ relationships.

There are more than 30 talks, so be sure to get involved and tease the part of your brain that tries to tell you the difference between right and wrong.
