Kingsleys is officially one of Sydney’s great steak restaurants. Perched on Woolloomooloo’s Finger Wharf, it’s been recognised in the World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants list, along with Rockpool and Bistecca in the CBD. But unlike its peers, Kingsleys flaunts an iconic waterfront location to go with those premium steaks and crustaceans.
Strong chances are you’re here for the beef, and the kitchen favours cuts from leading farms including Tajima Wagyu, Cape Grim and Great Southern Pinnacle. The options are many and varied, ranging from 200-gram eye fillets to hulking Bisteccas, all fired over a Josper grill. A fleet of sauces (bearnaise, confit garlic butter and friends) and condiments are on hand.
Considering the location, an order of surf to go with your turf is a good idea. The cold seafood bar offers platters of just-shucked Sydney rock oysters and Hokkaido scallops served in the half shell. Also a good idea – wine. Kingsley’s has a banger by-the-glass offering, with plenty of drops available by the carafe.
