In early 2018 8Hotels will shake up Sydney’s airport accommodation options when it opens the 150-room Felix Hotel. The boutique hotel is a two-minute drive from the Sydney Domestic Airport and a 10-minute drive from the international terminal. It celebrates everything aviation. First, guests head to the penthouse to check in. It’s a good introduction to the space that will also double as a cocktail bar and an outdoor cinema with views of planes taking off and landing.
Channelling the golden era of air travel, the hotel captures a modern urban aesthetic but with a 1960s twist. The flying theme runs through the hotel with rooms named “first class”, “business” etc. The conference rooms will be called Boeing and Airbus.
The hotel will feature self-check-in kiosks and a 24-hour food shop you can charge back your room with the swipe of your key. There’ll also be a 24-hour gym and self-use laundry, as well as in-bedroom entertainment and wi-fi.
