The cafe at the Museum of Contemporary Art doesn’t just have one of the best vantage points in Circular Quay. It also flaunts a modern Australian menu that makes it a strong lunchtime contender in The Rocks. Highlights include a lamb, saltbush and rosemary pie; fresh ficelle rolls and salads; and pastries by Tuga.
There are two ideal times to visit. The first is on a sunny day when you can sit on the veranda with a glass of something from the considered wine list and take in the views of the Opera House. The second is during the annual Vivid festival, which lights up the harbour in winter.
