Ici et La
French for ‘here and there’, Ici et La is treasure trove of bits and bobs from Paris and beyond. The huge Surry Hills space is stacked to its wooden rafters with industrial furniture – steel chairs, old army modular bedside tables and colourful metal lampshades – mainly sourced from private collections in France and Belgium.
You’ll find everything from vintage bikes (hanging from the ceiling), giant tanks of old buttons and stacks of books and encyclopaedias from yesteryear, to plush red velvet armchairs and original French art deco signs for your boulangerie. You can also hire their pieces as props for parties, weddings and other events in need of creative styling (the film houses do).
Don’t miss the vibrantly striped canvas deck chairs that welcome you at the front door, or the early 20th century garden furniture that borders the back alleyway. The eclectic collection ranges from the Napoleon III era (that’s Victorian for we English Empire counterparts), to present day.
