Off Oxford Street’s main drag sits Sticky Fingers Kitchen and Bar, a local hangout for cops, tradies and city residents. From the team behind Home Thai and Home Cafe, Sticky Fingers offers Thai-inspired brunch dishes in a clean, industrial-style outfit.

From the white poster-board on the back wall to the various shades of grey throughout, the venue is minimalist in design. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the action of Pelican Street, and a concrete wall – peppered with large holes – brings the light in. The exposed kitchen has a bar where patrons can eat and watch the chefs work, while the main bar is flanked with a large La Marzocco coffee machine turning out Golden Cobra coffee. The eatery’s name pays homage to the Police Bank upstairs.

An all-day breakfast menu offers dishes with an Asian touch, from bacon and egg rolls with Thai basil, to mac’n’cheese with Sriracha and maple bacon. A wobbly, green pandan panna cotta is an Instagram darling, decorated with edible flowers and paired with house-made black sticky-rice puree. Owner Tristan Chan focuses on sandwiches and salads at lunch, along with salmon poke bowls, spicy pad Thai (sharing the recipe from Home), and tempura-prawn sandwiches.

Tea is by Ovvio, which Chan uses to make syrup for the sparkling apple tea. Bloody Marys, with Sriracha and Archie Rose vodka, are also popular.
