Features
Le Monde, situated on the steepest and busiest road in Surry Hills, is tucked away behind an unassuming exterior and conveniently houses some of the best coffee you’ll find in Sydney (with two barista champions in its wings). The cafe is always buzzing with a steady trade of take away customers, catering for the many offices nearby, as well as business meetings and a mix of students and Surry Hills locals.
In addition to espresso-based coffees, Le Monde also uses Clover coffee, and has daily specials blends. The food is also excellent, with a neat selection of snacks and cafe standards alongside a more adventurous and ever-changing specials board created by chefs Chris Merrick and Daniel Puskas, who have both trained in some of the best kitchens in Sydney.
Le Monde is also open for weekend breakfasts and although they no longer offer their famed breakfast degustation with matching coffee, Merrick and Puskas have come up with a fantastic and delicious menu. As is the standard in Sydney, it’s likely you will have to wait for a table in peak times and no bookings are taken.
