Domo 39 is a cafe by the Kurumac and Mapo Gelato teams, inspired by the konbini (convenience stores) of Japan. The industrial-style space opposite Sydney Park is filled with light and has a fit-out heavy on wood and concrete. A central open fridge is filled with takeaway-ready onigiri and bentos.

Onigiri are generously filled, with flavours that make it hard to choose one. Think salted salmon; ginger, pork and egg; and pickled mustard leaf. Bento boxes are more substantial, with past options including Wagyu and egg, pork katsu, and grilled salmon.

You'll also find a couple of soft-serves ice-creams on offer, including a seasonal flavour and the staple: rice. Top your pick with kuromitsu (caramel sugar syrup), toasted rice, or a sprinkle of matcha or hojicha.

Coffee beans are supplied by nearby roaster, Sample. They’re the base for standard brews as well as iced yuzu black coffees and a matcha mocha.
