Natural winemaker Doom Juice is opening a cellar door in the garage of closed St Peters pub the White Horse Hotel over the spring and summer. Launching on September 2, it’ll pour Doom Juice’s full range of organic, natural and vegan vino, plus it’ll have a pop-up kitchen, a roster of DJs and artist residencies. A mural by cartoonist Struthless will peek out onto the street, leading punters inside.
The pop-up diner, St Lawrence Bistro, is led by Bastardo chef Jack Fitzhenry. Each Sunday it’ll have a different chef on the pans, serving an a la carte menu. Already signed up for the gig are Old Fitz head chef Toby Stansfield, Continental Deli CBD head chef Marcelo Munoz, Wesley Cooper Jones (P&V), Cafe Paci sous-chef Sammy Rozsnyoi, Luka Coyne (Fish Shop), Sagra’s Ed Saxton and Anna Ugarte-Carral (Ten Hats, ex-Old Fitz).
Drinkers and diners can hole up in a sunny courtyard, which’ll have a bottle-o-style fridge and red neon lights. Founders Sebastian Keys and Zachary Godbolt promise it’ll also have “the best smoking area in Sydney”, if you’re into that sort of thing.
Doom Juice’s cellar door is slated to open at 161 Princes Highway, St Peters, on September 2.
