Xtra Clubs
In Australia, getting regular access to a sauna usually means needing a gym membership – which probably isn’t worth it if all you want to do is unwind after a long day at work.
Sauna culture is far more egalitarian in parts of Europe and Asia, where the act of getting some steam with your neighbours is a daily ritual. Xtra Clubs aims to bring that culture to Sydney with unlimited, anytime access to a sauna, ice and steam starting at $27.95 per week.
The brand’s Bondi Junction location is the first in a planned network of sauna facilities across the city. At the heart of the 350-square-metre space is a beautiful Finnish-designed sauna, claimed to be the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. You can also hit the Turkish-inspired steam room, one of three infrared saunas, or eight ice baths ranging from four to 10-degrees Celsius.
All spaces are large format, and session times range from 70 minutes to unlimited depending on your membership. Club facilities are accessed via an app, which also lets you set and measure goals, schedule your next session and connect with the Xtra Clubs community.
