Dust
Just a hop, skip and jump from Darlo Bar, this little shop is full to the brim of antiques and curiosities from yesteryear. So much so that it spills out onto the footpath.
Dust started off its life at Bondi Markets, before moving to its current Darlinghurst locale about 10 years ago. Expect to find an eclectic mix of quality bric-a-brac from the early 1900s through to the 70s. You’re just as likely to find antique crystal vases, intricately gilded mirrors and art-deco chandeliers here as you are English art prints, framed taxidermy butterflies and American Indian headdresses.
The old brick corner shop sources its jumble of collectables mainly from private collectors and as the gold lettering in the window states, relics are bought, sold and hired. Indeed, Dust’s hire service is often utilised for film (Baz Luhrmann resides just around the corner and is a regular).
You never know what you’re going to find at Dust. It’s the kind of place that makes that one off genie-in-the-lamp type discovery seem all the more likely.
