Loren Morton and Kristie Keith were friends long before becoming business partners, bonding over their love of handcrafted items made by locals. Commune finally opened in late 2016, after years of talking about the concept.

The space is clean, crisp and warm. It looks exactly like every dream beach home should. With white-washed walls, vintage timber furniture, wicker baskets brimming with beach towels, a wardrobe full of relaxed linen and tropical scents percolating throughout.

Morton and Keith keep Commune stocked with ethically produced products that are either designed or made in Australia. All items have been selected based on what the design-loving duo personally likes.

There are Pampa Rugs and rattan day beds sourced from Byron Bay; and John Macathur loose beach knits and Etico candles, both handmade in Bondi.
