Claire Coppins understands the pleasures of shopping. Not just the end result – the scented tissue paper, the big paper bag and everything inside it – but the act itself. Step into her first retail venture, the AparTTment, and you could be offered anything from a cup of fragrant T2 tea to something fresh out of the oven from nearby Lorraine’s Patisserie.

Wander through the opulently decorated boutique, pausing to ogle the oversized stuffed toy tiger, or take a seat on one of the plush sofas (by furniture brand Max Sparrow). Soy candles perfume the space, which is filled with Senso shoes, leather separates by Nour Hammour and a wall of cosmetics and beauty products from Australian brand Bloom.

This is not your average concept store. Coppins, the brains behind fashion label Tighttigers, modelled the boutique on the quirky elegance of a Parisian pad, both in aesthetic and design. That French je ne sais quoi dominates the fashion offerings (basics from Coppins’ own label Tighttigers and delicate silk scarves by Yassin Lahmar), while the interiors take a leaf out of the artistic Parisian communities of Montparnasse or Belleville. Battered suitcases and rustic stepladders serve as focal points and prints are stacked up against the wall, as if waiting to be hung. The result is a sense of bohemian luxury – a shop that feels less like a store and more like a much cooler friend’s perfectly decorated apartment.
