Zeus Street Greek
The ex-directors of Crust Pizza have teamed up with Pony Dining to create a restaurant that takes the experience of Greek street food and turns it up a few notches. All of the restaurant’s seven owners are Greek. And related. There are locations popping up all over Sydney, from Drummoyne to Rosebery.
The food is simple Greek fare at its best; fresh and filled with flavour. And it's all made from scratch. The team has had a bit of fun with the menu. The names of the gyros range from Papou Niko; salty char-grilled pork wrapped in pita with Aegean slaw, caramelised onion, preserved lemon mayo and parsley, to the Uncle Tzimmy Classic; char-grilled lamb, pork or chicken with tomato, tzatziki, onion, paprika and hot chips wrapped in warm pita bread. The meat is slow cooked for more than 12 hours on lava rocks, on an automatic conveyer system.
The design company DS17, who also designed Greek CBD restaurant Alpha, is responsible for the sleek white-tiled walls, bronze fittings and wooden shelves of the locations. Imported Greek honey and olive oil complete the interiors. But the eye is immediately drawn to the black lettering on the far wall that details the inspiration behind the restaurant’s namesake.
Zeus also offers a mid-week lunch solution - Spartan Lunch Boxes. Based on the ancient Spartan diet options include roasted chicken, lamb or pork served with Aegean slaw and rice pilaff. Available to order online or grab one in store from Monday to Friday, 12-3pm.
The team at Zeus believes the most important thing a person can do is demonstrate filoxenia, that is, showing hospitality, generosity and friendship to any guest. At Zeus, the philosophy is simple, the fare is fresh and you’ll feel right at home.
They've just opened a new store in Rosebery, which will be their third in Australia.
They will bring this philosophy into your home delivering, on their zero-emission scooters, fro 5pm-10pm daily. Zeus delivers to Drummoyne, Russell Lea, Rodd Point, Five Dock, Wareemba, Abbotsford and Chiswick.
