Features
Taste of Tang has been part of the fabric of Oatley since 1985, and for South Sydney locals, it’s a bit of an institution. The Tang family’s place has evolved over the years (it was originally called Oatley Chinese and Malaysian), but the approach hasn’t faltered. People come here for quality Chinese-Malay dishes drawing on family recipes, and a dining room that’s just a little bit cooler than the average neighbourhood Chinese joint.
From aromatic Malay laksas to Australian-Chinese hits like honey prawns, the menu doesn’t leave much off the table. And beyond the starter and signature dish sections, the offering is helpfully divided by protein. Feel like Sichuan-style scallops or Shanghai barbeque duck? Just look to the appropriate section – and be sure to order both.
Taste of Tang also has a notable gluten-free offering. Happily, it includes most of the house favourites – including the signature Singapore chilli mud crab. Be prepared and order this one 24 hours in advance.
