Rafi
By the group behind The Butler and Bopp and Tone, Rafi is the kind of venue that has a setting for every type of experience. Designed by Luchetti Krelle, the interior is split into various dining sections, each featuring distinctive artwork, furnishings and flooring. Depending where you sit you might find real stone, marble mosaic, custom parquetry, granite and terracotta beneath your feet.
The menu was designed with a “choose your own adventure” mentality. It has a strong seafood focus, but this is also the place to come if you’re looking for anything from Wagyu sirloin, to crispy lamb ribs, to vegetarian dishes. It's all a reflection of the seasons best produce.
Settle under a colourful umbrella on the outdoor terrace for a cocktail and snacks. Go light with dishes such as Cantabrian anchovies with hojiblanca or oysters and a glass of wine. In the handsome main dining room, you might order Glacier 51 toothfish skewers, crispy lamb ribs and grilled lobster with cultured butter.
The terrace, which is tucked in among the treetops, is also split into parts, and its design evokes European summers. Decorative white metal gates enclose the area, and the centrepiece is the Arbour, a glasshouse hung with greenery and lined with banquettes for a partly al fresco experience. Surrounding it are intimate tables beneath bright orange umbrellas, perfect for parking up for a post-work summer drink.
At the long marble bar, which has its own menu, the stools are lined with fabric inspired by the Australian desert by Walmajarri artist Jimmy Pike. For drinks, expect fun seasonal cocktails, local tap beers and wines by Australian winemakers.
